30 Jul Dana Jones-Sheppard,
FNP-BC
Dana is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Nursing from George Washington University. She is a second-career nurse with previous degrees from The University of Chicago and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
Dana’s prior nursing experience focused on weight management and improving metabolic health, as well as the care of cardiac patients, many of whom had additional chronic illnesses such as diabetes and kidney disease. She prioritizes understanding the needs and concerns of each client and welcomes the opportunity to assist them in moving toward their specific health goals.
Dana has a passion for working with clients to explore the root causes of optimal (and suboptimal) health. Focusing on the underlying drivers of health can help identify which steps clients might find useful and practical as they address their particular health-related challenges and goals. Based on each person’s health status and preferences, she aims to provide the information, support, and encouragement needed to optimize health and wellness.
Dana is originally from Knoxville, TN, has lived in Chicago, Boston, and New Delhi, and is a long-time resident of northern Virginia. In her free time, Dana enjoys meditating, reading, walking and rucking outdoors, and learning about a variety of topics and skills, including trying to learn how to play bagpipes. She and her husband are the proud parents of two adult children, and as a family they enjoy opportunities to spend time together visiting national parks and playing elaborate board games.
